PROJECT DESCRITION

Every structural landscaping project presents unique obstacles to overcome, and this Retaining Wall Fairlight project was no exception! Facing multiple challenges including poor initial construction and the weight of a majestic Norfolk pine, our team collaborated closely with the body corporate, an arbitrator, and a structural engineer to craft a solution that not only protected the tree but also ensured the structural integrity of the new retaining wall.

During excavation, we treaded carefully to safeguard the delicate root structure of the Norfolk pine, ensuring minimal disturbance. Our engineered solution included a 2.2-meter-wide footing to fortify the wall against tremendous pressure.

Guiding the body corporate through material choices, we offered them a range of options, showcasing our past projects and providing physical samples samples for their consideration. Ultimately, they chose the elegant light-medium Mt White rock face sandstone with sawn 50mm capping from Gosford Quarries.

The failed retaining wall had wreaked havoc on the driveway, lifting large sections of concrete. To remedy this, we cut and removed the damaged portions, replacing them with a reinforced concrete driveway, restoring both form and function.

At Brick and Stone Construction, we believe in more than just building structures; we craft solutions tailored to your unique needs. From retaining walls to front fences, we blend precision and beauty for results that stand the test of time.

TESTIMONIAL

“From the beginning, we were impressed by Frank’s quiet confidence and manner, time spent discussing our requirements, and giving a fair quote. It was a complex job working with engineers and the strata committee, finding solutions to the growing tree roots as their damage was unearthed. We are delighted with Frank’s work - he has always been professional, neat, and polite, and a thorough gentleman.“
